Finally....

KFC Double Down: Will you try it?

KFC is bringing its famous Double Down sandwich, which features fried chicken breasts instead of buns, to Canada starting Oct. 18 for a limited time.

The bunless bacon-and-cheese laden sandwich was launched in select U.S. markets last year before being made available nationwide in April. It's become the company's most successful sandwich in history, a news release said Thursday.

According to Dan Howe, chief marketing officer for Yum! Restaurants Canada, the corporation that operates and licenses KFC restaurants, 64 per cent of Canadians wanted the fast-food giant to bring the 540-calorie menu item north of the border, although "only about 45 per cent report they have what it takes to take down the Double Down."

The sandwich will be available at each of the company's 729 restaurants in Canada until Nov. 14.

Recently, several U.S.-based fast-food chain restaurants have been trying to outdo each other with belt-busting sandwiches.

In June, Friendly's introduced the 1,500-calorie Grilled Cheese Burger Melt, which replaces traditional hamburger buns with two grilled-cheese sandwiches.

One month later, Carl's Jr. and Hardee's began selling foot-long cheeseburgers in test markets.

Countdown is on DOC !!
