TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF?

Walk into our kitchen today around noon and spot this fine young man preparing himself one hell of a lunch. Normally he is puttin back burgs, fries, pizza, sheppards pies, lasagnas etc, but not today. Today he has decided to make not just one nice sandwich for himself but two jumbo sandwiches with veggies and all! He must have just got a raise cause he was usin the finest ingredients the super store has to offer. We are off to Mexico fairly soon so lil rig & big rig are on a diet. Strictly sandwiches from here on out. Nice new hair doo Mikey. Notice the tums beside the sandwich. Lil Rig doesnt leave the house without em. Enjoy.

Porchetta & Co.

If you're a lover of all things pork and you live in Toronto, you should definitely swing by Porchetta & Co., a new sandwich shop on Dundas West. This place does one thing and does one thing right: pork sandwiches. This is no ordinary, leftover pork-chop-on-a-bun sandwich. Porchetta is a traditional Italian way of roasting pig. They start with a pork shoulder covered in spice, wrap that in prosciutto, then wrap that in pork bellies. Hot damn, you've got yourself one hell of a sandwich. The pork belly crisps as it roasts (sometimes called crackle), the prosciutto cooks perfectly and the pork shoulder centre remains full of juicy flavour. There are several add-ons that you can top this baby with like mushrooms, rappini, mozarrella and truffle sauce, but to be honest it is just fine on it's own. There are also side options like soup and potatoes. Get in there and try it out! Sandwiches are only $5.95 to start and a welcome change from the usual lunch garbage that TO has to offer.

I give it 4/5 pig tails, because I feel that the presentation could have been better.

Measuring almost six inches in diameter, we’re looking at a sandwich made of two rolls, 4 cheeseburgers, double cheesesteak, chicken cheesesteak, gyro meat, grilled chicken, bacon, sausage, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, chicken nuggets, mac n cheese bites, fried mushrooms, jalapeño poppers, pizza bites, onion rings, hash browns, American cheese, mayo, ketchup and french fries. I guess a good question to ask is, what’s NOT on this sandwich? You can pick one up from the Fat Sandwich Company if you’re so inclined to try all those ingredients and flavors in one bite.
